Champion
Pure Spanish, revised son of 16.3 hand Competidor XIII who Ami MacHugh
imported from Spain. I fell in love with Compe the minute I saw his first photos
and Ami allowed me to breed to him but the realization that I have 10, count 'em
10 and counting Remate daughters led me to conclude that I wanted an outside
stallion sooner than any of my babies would be ready to breed.
My search led me to fall head over heels with Wan. His dam, Samba, is the dam of
Ami’s amazing Kianto and I am so familiar with what Samba, Kianto and Compe have
consistently produced, I have no doubt whatsoever that Wan’s babies with my
mares will be exactly what I love–big, dramatic movement and most importantly
kind and generous. I brought Wan home in October, 2007 and we have begun
groundwork and I've never had a horse who so loved to work or a youngster with
such focus. There are too many things to list that I love about Wan but I guess
the top of the list is the fact that he has enormous bone, a gorgeous head and
profile, an eye that you can hardly help but drown in, effortless use of his
body and such hind end driven power. As a bonus, Wanapum is heterozygous grey (Gg)
and homozygous black (EEaa).
Stud Fee and Inquiries
Before 2012, Wanapum was not offered to breed outside
mares as I wanted to have enough foals of my own to satisfy me that he was
stud-quality. What he has produced has thoroughly convinced me and
he is now offered to purebred mares on a very limited basis. Please contact me
for information. As I had not previously offered him for outside breedings, as
of the beginning of 2012, I have not shipped his semen but he has had an
excellent live cover rate of successful impregnating.
2012 fee is $2,000 for approved purebreds and $1050 for non-Andalusian mares.
